I have regular debates with Mr. God on his existence. He wants to prove that he does not exist. I insist he does. God exists in the insecurity of human character, in the apprehension of one's shortcomings and in the confusion of what is right and what is not. We hardly know what "right" is. The reason is there isn't. there is no right and nothing wrong. Thanks to Mr Einstein. Theory of relativity rules. What is right for you can be dangerous for my survival. And what is comfortable for me can kill you. Last night I was watching "Casino Royale". And I came to hear an incredible line. "Religion and security close doors." Leaving security at its own comfort zone, I do want to talk about religion.
Now if you want to persuade me that religion is a way of reaching God or something like that, I'll ask you to try the next door. Religion, for me, is a set of rules carefully mastered by some of the greatest intellectuals in the world. Their sole aim was to maintain a proper balance in the society. You need to folllow rules to run any system. So it is obvious that it goes with the greatest system in the world so far, the human society. If you ask the mass to follow a certain rule because you feel it's "good" for the society, they'll never listen to you. They've been back-benchers throughout their life and are more interested in tic-tac-toe rather than dry lectures. But what if you say it is "God's wish"? They suddenly look into your face. It's like telling them that the principal has asked them not to chew gums in the classrooms. That means they must listen to the instruction or they'll be thrown out of the school or their parents will be called or...who knows? Who wants to take a chance to see how the principal will react. The safer way is to spit the chewing gum out. We are so unsure of the authority that we are paranoid.
Different religions were formed under different circumstances having very contrasting culture among themselves. We can never ignore the importance of geography and economy in the formation of religion. Hinduism was formed when everything was in plenty. No stress. No tension. No distinct struggle. More than enough resources all over. So Hinduism was born out of bliss. it's obvious it talks about peace, forgiveness and meditation. It's pretty clear why eating beef was not allowed because the cow was the main source of existence. The cow was called as mother simply because it was teh reason behind all agricultural success. The cow milk gives you the best nutrition. While Islam was formed in a very different physical condition. Life is extremely harsh in a desert. You have to be tough, physically and mentally to survive. Remember survival is the key. It is always the survival that matters. And the fittest survive. The prayer position in Islam is also known as "Vajraasana" in yoga. That is the position that makes your lower body as strong as thunder (vajra). Muslims do it five times a day. Imagine their physical fitness. you can ask any fitness instructor. If your lower part of the body is in sound condition, you're at the pink of your health. Islam says that the sinner must be prosecuted. The devil must get its own due. The reason: the cruel desert life does not give you a second chance. You must go ahead even if your best friend dies. At the end of the day, it's your survival that counts as you're still alive and thus a part of the society. They don;t have plenty of resources in a desert. It's pretty clear why eat beef. Why not pork? Don't you know it generally comtains dangerous bacteria if not cooked properly. Doesn't Islam always emphasize on physical fitness? They have to wash their hand for seven times with seven different things if they touch a dog. Haven't you heard of rabies? Remember they're not your pets unlike in the Vedic ages. In a desert, you can not afford a pet. Stay away from wild canines.
I get annoyed very often when people refuse to open their eyes and analyze. Why should we keep such an important aspect of our society, religion, in a safe distance? Only then we can understand each other's religious or rather philosophical differences. I have never prayed in my life. I've hardly read any holy book as such. But it doesn't stop me from thinking freely. Or, if that is the reason I can think free, I'm better off them.
I don't pray as I'm already blisssful. I don'tread holy books as i already know what they can possibly dictate. I follow morality, truth and justice on my own. i don't need somebody else to come and tell me what to follow. I'm intellectually pretty stable to follow my conscience which is immaculate.
May be that's why I always win the debate with Mr. God.
Who knows what the future might hold! Who cares!
Sounds careless? Frivolous? Shallow? Or just ignorant? Whatever you say, who cares!
When I see above my jigsaw-like brain, there is no cloud. May be I'm still living in my dream-world and trying to escape from the REAL world. Otherwise how can a cloudless sky be possibly seen when people try so hard everyday to make it a little darker? No way! You are foolish, young man!
Or....... right now........the clouds are just under my feet. May be I have reached such a height inside that I stand beyond the clouds staring at the sun directly into his bossy eyes.
I like "Rockford" by Mr. Kukunoor. There's a punch-line in the film: "There's no failure, only setbacks". Life is too short, too precious and too interesting even to think of failure. It simply does not exist in a fair called life where you always have so many things to choose from, so many options to turn your life around once again.
Life is very harsh to those who take it way too seriously. Being a very 'filmy' sort of person, I'll draw another example from a film, Jab We Met. Geet says to Aditya that she plays with her life because it is her favourite game, LIFE.
Play on, friends. This is a kind of a game where you yourself can set the rules and play it as well. Well, to some extent, at least. At the end of the day, you should be responsible for all your mess and YOU have to clean the shit up. At the same time, relax, take a chill pill and feel good about all the good things you've done so far and all the great things you're going to do in near future.
And you still think life is harsh........think again, bro!
